June 05

The next event will be held July 17th, in Carbondale, KS. Start time is 11 a.m. This place is about 10 miles south of Topeka. Directions: I-70 to 470 to the South Turnpike Topeka exit. Take this to 75 south then 75 S to the Carbondale exit. Turn right, then you will turn left on this road just before a set of RR tracks. On this road, follow the right split and the riding area is down on the left side. There should be some markings when you get into town. There is also a small riding fee at this place so bring a couple extra bucks just in case.

The annual Quarry Cup meeting is set for Tuesday June 28th at the Hopkins office. Start time is 7 p.m. The club will provide pizza, just bring your own drink. Directions: 2820 NW Barry Rd. From 152 Hwy head south on Platte Purchase Rd, then west on Barry rd ½ mile to United Country Real Estate. (the old Rembrandts place) Carl's office # 816-420-6202 - cell 816-868-2035 if you need more directions.

Jim and Susan Bridges made a surprise visit this past event. Jim looked in good spirits and was showing off his new zipper that had been installed. It's great to see you up and moving around! Keep getting well!

Harley Greffieon from Decatur, IA was voted in at the June event. Welcome to the M.A.T.T. family Harley and co.

The club also decided to sponsor all M.A.T.T. riders at Youth Nationals. The event is being held down at the Trials Training Center in TN over the July 4th weekend. Big Nate and Awesome Dawson Dennis are going to give it a shot this year. Good luck guys and have fun.

I am sorry to report that there is no Ute Cup trial this year. Dale did state something about the Colorado guys having some trail rides planned and other things to do instead of having the actual event. If you do not head over for that, the club has decided to hold a mini-Ute. The way this will work is, the event will be held out at Ken Brown's place and he will mark a loop. People will show up Fri or Sat and break up into small groups. These groups will head out on the loop and set up a few sections each with an upper class and lower class line, with the total sections being around 20. That Sat evening there will be a big cook out, horseshoes, swimming, etc…. Then Sun morning, we will ride in randomly drawn groups and ride the sections. There will be 2 loops ridden. All the lower class riders will have there scores go against each other with all the upper class riders going against each other as well. (typical Ute Cup style). We won't have the cool Ute Cup rugs, 20 mile loop, scenery, or anything like that, just an event to help us get our Ute Cup fix. This event is planned for the normal 3rd weekend of the month Aug 21st but this is not etched in stone. More to come…
