Mid America Trials Team

Feb 2006

January had us off to a great start with the weather for both events last month. Our first ever set up and ride had maybe a couple of hic-cups, but all in all, worked out pretty well. So in staying with the unpredictable weather patterns in the Midwest, we are going to do it again in February. Basically, as a refresher, whomever shows up for the event this coming Sunday, the 19th, will need to set up an all class section prior to the event. Once they are all set up, a make shift loop is formed and everyone heads out as a group. I would suggest that if we get a large turnout again this month, we split up into two groups to help speed things along a little bit. So if cabin fever is getting you down, cheer up and head north this Sunday to Trenton, MO for a little fun in the woods. Directions: Trials site located 3 miles west of Trenton, MO, just north of the junction of Hwy 6 & Hwy 146. Trenton is approx. 90 miles north east of Kansas City. From KC, go north on I-35 to exit 61 (Hwy 6) and turn east. (follow signs toward Crowder State Park) Turn north on Hwy 146 (big white cross) and go approx. 1/8 of a mile and turn right on the gravel road (N.A.P. Quarry). Lock gate behind you. Combination lock is 6288 (MATT).

I will have a formal schedule out in March's newsline, but want to let everyone know of a couple of scheduling changes. The April trials will be held in Excelsior Springs, MO at the Carpenter homestead. The date has been moved to the fourth Sunday, April 23rd. The May two-day in Trenton conflicts with the world round/nationals in TN. It has been talked about moving this event to the fourth weekend as well. Any questions or concerns on both of these changes should be directed to club Pres. Ken Brown Jr. (913) 772-8414.

The world indoor series has been an interesting one so far this year. With what seems like a different winner each week, Adam Raga has emerged as the current points leader followed closely by Albert Cabestany and Toni Bou. Round six was held Feb 11th wityh the victory going to Raga. Dougie Lampkin made a strong showing after a rough start to the season (broken ribs) and made his first podium appearance of the year. Jeroni Farajdo took the third rung of the podium after being just off pace of the leaders. Here are the mid season standings.

1. Adam Raga Gas 52
2. Albert Cabestany She 41
3. Toni Bou Bet 40
4. Jeroni Fajardo Gas 32
