March 2007 MATT Newsline

Did any body out there make it to Trenton on February 18th?  Please raise your hands if you did and give yourself a big round of applause!  As for me, well it was still COLD!  There was still ICE and SNOW!  My KNEE is … feeling better thank you very much.  No NFL playoffs on TV that day but plenty of family activities.  Thank God, the snow and ice and cold are gone!  Looks like spring is springing.  Heck, it’s been so nice I even washed the mud from Russ’ place off my bike this weekend!  I may even do some maintenance this week, well maybe Saturday.  I want to be ready for the trials next Sunday!

That’s right, the March MATT trails is scheduled for this Sunday, March 18th at Ken Brown’s place in Easton, KS.  Start time will be the usual 11:00am.  The location address is 27760 215th St. in Easton, KS.  Pop this address into your favorite map site or call Ken Brown at 913-772-8414.

I have been in touch with Ken a couple of times in the past 3 weeks to discuss the property near Atchison.  Ken will spend a few moments discussing the property and negotiations thus far.  There are several options being discussed as to how to use the property and how to pay the lease for use of it.  I will let Ken take the lead on this topic.  I know that Ken wants to reschedule a day in which all interested club members can visit the site.  There has also been some discussion about the Carpenters’ hosting the April MATT event at the new site.  Thus club members would have a couple of opportunities to visit the proposed new grounds.  Again, more information about this topic will be discussed at the March event so please come to Ken’s this Sunday, ride the event and take part in discussion about this new riding opportunity.

I do have one Notable Quotable for you from an interview of Adam Raga in the March Trials Competition news paper. By the way, TrialsComp is a great publication for the Trials community. If you don’t already subscribe, check it out at www.TrialsComp.com.

Q: It is rumored that a four-stroke Gas Gas is coming soon. Will you remain on the two-stroke?

A: Yes, until I am forced to switch.

I guess we know how Adam feels about 4 stroke trials bikes!

By the way, Adam is in quite a battle with Toni Bou for  the Indoor Championship.  After four rounds, the standings are:

1) Toni Bou 33

2) Adam Raga 27

3) Albert Cabestany 23

4) Takahisa Fujinami 22

5) Dougie Lampkin 20

6) Jeroni Fajardo 19.

Remember:  March MATT Trials will be held at Ken Brown’s next Sunday, March 18th.  See you there!
