JUNE
2008 MATT Newsline
It was a beautiful day, May 18th 2008. The sun was shining, puffy white clouds floated across the big blue sky! What a great day for an event. And it was a terrific event. Everyone gathered together as the participants readied themselves for the big day! The one we had all been waiting many years see. No, not a MATT Trials event. Our beautiful and intelligent (did I mention beautiful?) daughter Kelsey graduated from high school that day. I guess there was a trials, in fact I know there was because Paul Turnbull told me it was fun and he got second in Intermediate behind Carl Hopkins. That’s all I know because I was at Kelsey’s graduation. I told Kelsey and Cathie I would be at the quarry that weekend but they wanted me at home and at the glorious event. I am very glad they convinced me to see it their way (nothing new here)!
SOOOOOOOOOO, if anyone wants to write up something and give me some results from the May trails, get it to me and I will publish it. I believe there was a Golf Cart Rodeo also on Saturday, possibly some other shenanigans, tell me a story and I’ll publish it.
NEW NEWS: Marc Carpenter is taking on coordinating the annual MATT Float Trip since Jim Bridges has resigned! Here is the vital info for this year’s event:
Location: Noel, MO @
the Shady Beach Campground. Cost is $30/ person which includes
canoe rental and 2 nights camping fees. RV sites are available
for $25/ night. The date is July 11th, 12th, &
13th. The float is on the 12th. It is 8 miles and takes
about 4-6 hrs to do. You can find more info at
www.shadybeach.com.
Marc would like your reservation and money by the June trials (the
15th). You can mail it to him at 4208 NW Winslow Court, Blue
Springs, MO 64015. If you need to get a hold of Marc or just
for a good time, you can reach him at 816-809-9610. Sounds like
a really COOL time! Come and enjoy the water and camaraderie.
REMEMBER: This Sunday is Father’s Day. And you know what that means: MATT trials at Trenton, MO. Once again this month MATT is not charging rider entry fees so put that money in your tank and come ride with us!
PS: Don’t forget to tell your Dads “Thanks for everything, Pop, I love you! Well, I’m going riding!” That’s really all they need on this special day of observation. That and a new GASGAS, or maybe just some riding boots!?
Special note: Reminder about the MATT Father’s Day trials this Sunday in Trenton, MO: Special Father’s Day rule: All Dads get bumped up in front of any kidless competitors that might finish in front of them in the event. Just kidding! See you there!
