Happy New Year!  Hope it goes great and all things turn out for you all.  Let's hope it starts off better than mine.  (more on that later)

A BIG THANK YOU to the Hopkins for hosting the X-mas party down in the "Man Cave".  Everybody looked like they were having a great time.

We need some help people.  The Trials Master list was at the x-mas party and it was looking pretty bare.  Email me with the month you want to put on/help with your trials.

The Extreme Traction Trials Team has hooked up with the AMA Arenacross Series (www.arenacross.com) and will be riding in some of the Midwest region shows.  They will be riding during the "Track Parties" and also slated to ride a little during the "Pro" night session.  They will be in Tulsa, OK this Sat (1-8-11) at the BOK Center.  Then on 1-15-11, they will be in Kansas City at Kemper Arena.  I will give updates when and where they will be once things are confirmed.

From the December Trials:

This note was handed to Russ after the Dec 2010 Trials.

Bonjorno. My nama isa Sergio Bieffe. Ima ina the United States of America looking for a potential trials team riders toa bea ona my company’s trials team.Pleasa excusea mya English.  Mya company isa new toa the world of motorcycle trials. We hava been making lawn mowers in my native country ofa Espanochi. I wasa invited toa your trials today, 19 December, 2010 ina Trenton, Missouri toa watch your riders ride. Ita wasa a wonderful day toa be there. Toa bad youa hada only 6 riders there. There wasa justa slight dusting ofa snow ona the ground toa maka things interesting. Eacha rider wenta outa before the trials anda set upa a section for a the others toa ride. Isa thisa the waya all ofa your trials are set upa? Very strangea buta unique nonea the lessa. I wasa very impressed with a your Master classa riders. Your Bill Sanderson rodea very well. Toa bad hea dida not wina. Hea hada score ofa 31 points against your Scott Carpenter’s score ofa 27 points. Senor Carpenter isa wild rider. He reminds mea ofa the mountain sheep we hava ina my country. Very nimble ona the rocks. He kinda looks likea thema too. Youra novice class riders werea very good also. They are brothers I am told. Jon anda Jared Broughton. Theya hada fun embarassing your amateur riders bya taking harder lines thana the amateurs. I thinka these young boys are going to advance to a higher riding class real soon. Jared hada 35 points anda Jon hada 37 points. Very close scores. Now about youra amateur class. I dida not knowa old people rodea trials ina your country. They were older thana my Great Grandpapa. These twoa elderly gentlemen werea very funny toa watch ride. The short fat one was named Russell Amos. Hea wasa very funny anda loud. I thinka hea musta be deaf because hea wasa always shouting some thing. He dida not ride very wella either. He gota 20 points. The other elderly man wasa Harley Greffeeon. I thinka he isa a farmer because he wasa talking his property. Ita soundsa likea he owns half ofa the state ofa Iowa. Maybe thata is why he rode soa good with a only 16 points. He also rode harder lines than Senor Amos. I thinka he wasa showing off because me being there looking for a team members. Buta I no finda any riders for a my team ata your event. Maybe I come backa and looka at youra other riders somea day. Thanka Youa Very Mucha, Sergio.

Jan 1st 2011 Postage Stamp Trials

The Postage Stamp Trials, what can I say?  One never knows what the weather will be like on Jan 1st.  This year proved to be a pretty decent one with 25 riders making the trip over to Shawnee, KS.  I can tell you this though, the temp the night before was cold enough to freeze the ground and this made for some high scores in almost all the classes or everyone stayed up way to late celebrating the New Year.

Traction - yeah, there really wasn't any anywhere on the property.  This was proven time and time and time again in the Master class.  First section, first loop, Bill Sanderson found a slick spot going down the tight-line rocky hillside.  His front tire washed out and he went head first to the ground, right into a tree. Don't worry, the tree was ok!  Second section, first loop, Marc Carpenter rode up the frozen hill and as soon as he got to the top, he started to slide back down the frozen hill.  On the way down, he hit a stump which got him air born just enough to have him get stopped by a tree by his back, only to have the bike come after him and hit him and spin him around down to the bottom of the hill. He decided to lay there for a bit, so he could collect his thoughts.  His hand hurt pretty good but he decided not to take off the glove until after the event.  If he would have seen the blood, he would have started crying and that would so ruined his tough guy image.  Third loop, 2nd to last section, Jason Carpenter dropped down the 5ft ledge into a creek and proceeded to hop around to shoot back up the super steep ledge which didn't have the greatest approach.  Jason had had success with this the first to loops but this time, not so much.  He got a little squirly on the take off and then he needed to take a dab on the right when he almost to the top of the bank.  Only problem was, there was nothing but air for him to try and dab on.  Well he tried to anyways, was unsuccessful and flipped down into the creek bed and landed headfirst.  The bike landed on him and naturally the Gas Gas was pissed that it hit the frozen ground so the bike began to spin its rear wheel on Jason.  Bill grabbed the bike off of Jason and after a few moments, Jason tried to tell a joke while he was still laying down in the creek bed.  It was a bad joke because I don't even remotely remember what it was about.  He was ok, bike needed a little throttle repair.  For those of you that don't know, Jason very rarely crashes so we try to cherish the moment when they do happen.  Back to Marc- the event is over and he goes inside to have some awesome chili, dogs, and sweets.  The glove comes off and it was kinda smashed, deformed, and bloody.  He grabbed his cool little trophy that Russ makes and heads home.  After he unloads and showers, the pain starts to set in.  Long story short, he was strongly encouraged by the woman to go to the E.R.  He suffered a compound fracture on his right ring finger and ended up tearing ligaments in his left wrist.  Other than that, he was ok.  Thanks go to Russ, Larry and everyone who brought some of the great food.  Have a Happy New Year and hopefully a safe one.
