Out of Town

Crazy Foreigners

By MC

The February trials turned out to be the muddiest trials in Trenton, MO to date. This was not the event to break out the new riding gear everyone got over the winter. The crazy thing about the event was everyone who showed up from out of town. There were people from KS, MO, IL, IA, MN, and even WI. The Novice class had 6 riders and all were pretty close together. New member Bob Dennis with 4 points took the win by virtue of cleans over David Knight. Derick Dennis and Jerry Cheney tied for 3rd both with 10 points. I believe Jerry won the tie-breaker but that is not confirmed by my sources. Zach Jennings finished with 11 points for 5th and Clint Stith finished the day with 19 for sixth. The Amateur class only had two riders and for good reason. I think some guys rode Intermediate just so they wouldn't have to ride the "Caked in Mud" section. The lower classes had the privilege of riding a section that was guaranteed to look your wheels up with mud. I wasn't able to watch anybody ride the mud section but I did see the aftermath, and the front wheels were packed. Well, Bob Sanderson beat other new member Jeff Dickau for the win. The Intermediates had a very interesting class. There was a broken collar Master rider in there, an experienced Expert, a solid Intermediate veteran, Hollywood was back and healthy, and still radically improving Randy Dennis. Well the veteran Paul Turnbull showed why he is "The King" and won with 9 points. "Broken Collar Bone" (from snow boarding), Bill Sanderson finished with 12 points and "The Ex" Kelly Echterling finished 3rd with 13 points. Randy finished in 4th just 3 points ahead of Hollywood. The only pilot in the Expert class was Minnesota's Big "Bad" Ben Winterer. The Master class had some great out of town flavor. Brad "Tabasco" Villand was down from Wisconsin and won. This win was tainted however due to the fact of carefully tricking the local guys into taking some extremely nasty shots the night before which one included Tabasco. The two suffering from this horrible incident was 2nd place finisher Scott Carpenter and 3rd place finisher Marc Carpenter. The other out of townies, in the class were 4th place finisher Mike Tinkham and 5th placer Jerad Cheney. It was great to see all the out of town and new guys. Results below.
